The Model 1917 revolvers were adopted by the United States Military in 1917 during the Great War. These large-frame revolvers were chambered in .45 ACP or .45 Auto Rim and served as supplementary weapons to the standard issue M1911 pistols. The M1917 continued to be utilized in subsequent conflicts such as World War II, the Korean War (by support troops), and the Vietnam War (by Tunnel Rats and MACV-SOG units). Interestingly, actor Harrison Ford was seen using the M1917 in the "Indiana Jones" franchise.
