Product Description:

In 1543, two muzzle-loaded matchlock arquebuses were reportedly obtained from Portuguese sailors on Tanegashima island in Japan. This event took place during the Sengoku Jidai, also known as the Japanese Warring States period. Recognizing the potential to arm unskilled conscripts, the Japanese realized that training soldiers to use rifles was much simpler compared to the extensive training required for traditional Japanese bows, known as Yumi, which could take years to master. As a result, the Japanese embarked on a reverse-engineering process of the purchased Portuguese rifles. These rifles went on to arm soldiers from various warring states and acquired different names such as Hinawajuu, Teppo, and, notably, the Tanegashima.

About Airsoft Gun
The KTW TANEGASHIMA Carbine Air Cocking Rifle is an accurate reproduction of the Tanegashima matchlock arquebus carbine. This particular variant is shorter in length compared to the full-size Tanegashima, as it was designed for use by horseback troops, allowing for easy storage and effortless loading. KTW has done an impressive job in replicating the rifle, utilizing mostly metal components and a real wood stock. The rifle also features a functional wick that can be adjusted in length, and for added realism, the factory has slightly burnt the tip of the wick.
To operate the rifle, you would need to remove the mock loading stick located under the muzzle, which serves as the magazine for the gun, capable of holding 53 rounds. Next, you would pull the latch under the rifle to cock the gun, followed by cocking the cocking lever before firing. While the presence of a cocking lever and a 53-round magazine may seem unrealistic, the latch is discreetly positioned and hardly visible to those who are unaware of its location. This allows the gun to be skirmishable if desired, although it is primarily designed as a decorative piece to be admired when displayed on a wall.
Additionally, this rifle features an adjustable hop-up located near the rear sight, which can be fine-tuned using a 3M Allen key. KTW recommends loading the gun with 0.25 gram 6mm BBs for optimal performance.
