HISTORY of SVD Dragunov (Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova)
SVD Dragunov Sniper Rifle (Russian: Снайперская винтовка Драгунова), is a semi-automatic rifle designed by Evgeniy Fedorovich Dragunov in the Soviet Union between 1958 and 1963. The SVD was the world's first purpose-built military precision marksman's rifle, and is common (along with several variants) throughout the former Eastern Bloc. The need for a new precision platoon-level, semi-automatic rifle became apparent to Soviet military leadership in the 1950s, an-d in 1958 a contest among Soviet arms designers was opened for the creation of such a rifle. The winner of the contest was a rifle designed by a team headed by Evgeniy Fedorovich Dragunov. In 1963, the Dragunov Sniper Rifle was accepted into the arsenal of the Soviet Army. Out of the box:
Well packaged in a plain cardboard box, the stock rifle is awesome right away, and easily used with the iron sights set to a 40m position.
A little work is needed to make this gun topnotch:
1. The gun needs to be taken apart and taped in a couple of strategic locations. A little electrical tape for shimming and a tightening of the Grub screws will take all the wobble out of the barrel and make this a nice, stable sniping platform.
2. Depending on your field, the spring probably needs to be downgraded to get to the 400 fps zone. It's pretty hot stock. This is super easy, as it takes a normal AEG spring. Three minutes and you're done.
3. Hopup rubber should be upgraded.
Two 40rd mags come with the gun from e-hobby, which is a bonus. 4 mags will see you through most games. A side mount for scope rails is included, so scope that baby up!
The SVD shoots very accurately, and the straight pull bolt is quick, if difficult to pull with the stock spring. You'll need gloves in both hands or you'll quickly get blisters.
The SVD is very quiet to operate, which is great for not giving away your position. It is also very light, and easy to keep in the high ready position for extended aiming. A bipod would be a welcome addition.
Finally, this is a very long rifle. Due to it's low weight, it is easy to manouver, but some thought is needed when fighting in thick brush or tight environments. Also be careful when loading mags, as you can snag the front of the mag on the feed tube instead of the magwell and cause damage.
All in all, a fantastic rifle for the price, and easily upgradeable. Go nuts with this beast. It's best for the intermediate to advanced sniper, as it's lower ROF (bolt action) means choosing your battles carefully. -

The box:
A simple yet quite sturdy box made from carton and styrofoam. Holds the weapon sturdily in place and works as a nice storagebox. Other than that it is simply a box.
The Weapon:
The stock is well made and has a nice hefty feel to it, being sturdy and offering good grip.
The gun itself is made from metal. The barrel, reciever and all the mechanic (as in triggerhousing, sears, hopupchamber, charging handle and cylinder) are made from cnc:d and cast metal, being of surprisingly good quality. The piston and springguide are made from sturdy and very good metal, that handles the spring very well. The inner barrel is made from brass and is, after some polishing and cleaning (recommended for the whole gun), rather acurate.
The magazine:
Is made from metal and plastic, holds about 150 BBs and is of acceptable to good quality.
Performance:
Out of the box the gun shoots at around 140- 150 mps (0,2g bb), presuming that it is all well tightened (this is easy to do and well discribed all over the internet.).
The gun is quite hard to cock and the hopup is understandable, reasonably easy to set to a good position. With a well tightened rifle and good bbs with a well adjusted hopup the gun is quite acurate all up to 70+ meters.
Upgradability:
The weapon really only needs a stronger spring and a better barrel (AEG, 59cm) with a good hopuprubber and is then a very good sniper rifle. The sears and piston will easily handle a M180 spring. The gun takes regular AEG springs, making it very easy and cheap to upgrade.
All in All:
A good rifle, easily worth every penny. With some care an acceptable and respectable sniper rifle that is very upgradable and cheap in doing so. A good rifle for both beginners and advanced players, well discribed all over the internet. Not too cheap to find a good fitting scope. Very long rifle, but still acceptably easy to maneuver with some practice.

Such an awesome gun for the money! Out of the box she needs to be stripped down and all the grub screws tightened. A little electrical tape shim above the hopup unit eliminates any barrel wobble, and you'll need to lighten the spring to about a M120-M130 spring so you're not taking limbs off of your opponents. I put a Kalashnikov siderail and a Swissarms Red dot sight on and it works amazingly well. Gloves are nice as the spring is still tough to pull, and you'll get blisters inside your trigger hand where the thumb wraps around the stock from resisting the bolt (stock is a little wide here, and could use some after market milling). Shoots great, very accurate and can get a very high rate of fire for a bolt action. Mag has a bit of wobble, solved by yet more electrical tape. Locaps are great, no rattle. Gun is very light and easy to handle despite it's great length. Gun is very quiet, so great in the sniping role. Feels sturdy, but there may be some problems with durability in the long haul. So far its been bomber though.

Hey.
Just Thought i'd give you all my humble opinion on this rifle. It is very, very good. The hopup might take some adjusting before it really reaches out to its true potential, but the gun is quite powerful. It was no real problem to hit a mansized target at about 65 meters. The quality of the gun is astonishing for the price and the design of the gun is very nice. It is very easy to tune and will take AEG springs and barrels. The Sears seem to be able to take quite some punishment, but are unfortunately made from Potmetal so they will eventually need to be replaced. This could be a problem because there are no aftermarket parts as far as I know. Thus I would recommend it, that before your sears are worn down too much to go to some industrial manufacturing shop or such, and let them make new pistonsears from steel. This is not entirely necessary but would perhaps be a good precaution.
I would recommend it to anyone who has played for a while and is capable to use the power wisely. Safety and shooting distance becomes very important here. -

I received this gun today and I must say it looks great feels great I have not been able to field test it for a long amount of time yet. The few little flaws on this gun are the barrel that is a little loose but this is fixed easily with some candle wax that you rub on the mounting place of the barrel. I had some trouble to attaching my scope (psop 4x26) to my gun it required a small bit of the back mounting teeth of the scope to be sanded off . All together it takes about 25-30 minutes to do everything that it takes to get your gun in top shape. The instructions are easily found on you tube or here.
Thanks to the dust cover the spring and piston parts are very easily accessible and easily replaced the barrel does require the disassembly of most of the gun. and takes with a good tutorial about 5 minutes and certainly does not require more skills then replacing a spring in this gun.
For the people thinking this is the old version of the A&K SVD its has the 2 screws on the dust cover and mine came with 2 lowcap magazines instead of 1 high and 1 low. So I think it is fair to say this is the new version of the gun.
So short recap:
-This is the new version not the old
-The minor issues are easily fixed
-Certainly worth its money
-Good delivery

This is my 5th sniper rifle. I have had a VSR10, a BAR 10 and a M24 and then some, and i must say that this is by far the most worthy rilfe to be bought. It has a very nice Hopuprubber, in the style of Firefly, wich works nicely. The spring in mine was rather strong but still easily chockable. The building material of this rifle is astonishing, the potmetal is better than most Highend snipers i have seen! The whole rifle is made entirely from metal, being potmetal and high quality aluminum. It is by far the best rifle you could by for your buck!
The metal magasines that ehobby offers are a very good buy as well, as the mag that comes with the rifle is rather plasticlike and, being a highcap it rattles and is quite a pain in the as. Buy the metal lowcaps!!!
The trigger mech is a very chunky piece of metal and all the sears seem to be quite capable of dealing with heavy springs! It uses a normal AEG spring, thus being very easy to upgrade. This is done my removing two screws and removing the springguide and then simply put a stronger spring in. The most simple sniperrifle i have upgraded so far! It still remains to see how long the trigger and Piston will survive, being a rather strange mechanical solution it may wear down eventually. I would recommend you to buy a ball bearing springguide with this rifle, cut down the guide and use the ball bearing in the piston, as this rifle has no ballbearing to release falsely (sideways) applied pressure on the spring. This is easy and will boost your FPS and keep your spring healthy much longer!!
There are only two things that i would have to speak against, one being the silicone rod that applies the hopup and the second being the fact that is does not use a 90 degree trigger. This way it pushes down the piston sear wich is cut 90 degrees to the piston. This means that when the sear is pushed down, the surface of engagement becomes steadily reduced, thus causing more and more wear and tear. So far thsi has not been a problem, but i still think it is worth mentioning.
Hope this has been useful for you, ask if there are any more questions! -

This is by far the best manual (spring) SVD out there. It packs a mighty punch, shooting more than the 470fps (with 0.2bb) that it says on this site. The build quality is great, considering the price. The metal parts are very solid and feels like they are going to last. The plastic is not the best, but indeed decent. If you don't like it you can always buy the woodkit.
All this power gives it great accuracy and distance second to only the most powerfully tuned gas rifles. On the downside, you need muscles like Arnold Schwarznegger to operate it. Fit it with an original russian scope and it looks awesome. For the best performance I would recommend the use of 0.30-0.46bb's depending on wether you want superb accuracy or distance.
To sum it up: Great sniper with a microscopic price tag. A lot of bang for the buck, but be sure that you are strong enough to operate it! -

Hmm where to start =P
First off, the price is outstanding, the quality is very high, it is very light compared to a Warrior L96 and comes with one 180rd hi cap mag.
It is easy to upgrade as it is mostly held together via grub screws - alot of them!, so in mine I have a Madbull hop rubber and Madbull tightbore 650mm barrel which in length reaches the beginning of the flash hider.
Only downfall is trying to find the correct scope to fit it, i've been looking all over and even bought the PSOP scope of this website and still i'm having trouble getting it to fit, apparently I need a side plate which not only can I not find anywhere but was also not detailed on Ehobby anywhere at all 0_0
So im off to the russian fed shops on ebay now and see what they have to offer =]
Oh and standard AK47 scope mounts do not fit either.
apart from that this gun is VERY accurate - even on iron sights and with modded internals this is actually very reliable and affordable! Thanks Ehobby! -
