About Real Pistol
The
Mauser C96, also known as the Construktion 96, is a semi-automatic
pistol that was originally manufactured by the German arms manufacturer
Mauser from 1896 to 1937. During the first half of the 20th century,
unlicensed copies of the gun were also produced in Spain and China.
The C96 is characterized by several distinctive features. These
include the integral box magazine located in front of the trigger, a
long barrel, a wooden shoulder stock that provides stability and doubles
as a holster or carrying case, and a grip shaped like a broom handle.
The unique grip design earned the gun the nickname "broomhandle" in
English-speaking countries. In China, it was referred to as the "box
cannon" due to its rectangular internal magazine and the ability to be
holstered in its detachable wooden stock, resembling a box.
Thanks to its long barrel and high-velocity cartridge, the Mauser C96
boasted superior range and penetration compared to most other pistols
of its time. The 7.63?25mm Mauser cartridge used in the C96 was the
highest-velocity commercially manufactured pistol cartridge until the
introduction of the .357 Magnum cartridge in 1935.
