The Single Action Army (also known as the SAA, Model P, Peacemaker, or M1873) is a single-action revolver handgun. It was designed in 1872 for the U.S. government service revolver trials of 1872 by Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company (today known as Colt's Manufacturing Company) and was adopted as the standard-issued pistol of the US Army in 1873 until 1892.

The Tokyo Marui SAA.45 Spring Revolver is a classic spring airsoft revolver that embodies the essence of this type of firearm. Although it is marketed for children and features a plastic construction, this revolver provides an incredibly enjoyable experience. At first glance, the gun doesn't appear to be plastic, showcasing the quality craftsmanship expected from a Japanese-made firearm. Upon handling it, the plastic feel is noticeable, but the revolver remains solid and devoid of any creaking noises.
What sets this revolver apart is its functional similarity to its gas and CO2 counterparts. It requires a half cock to rotate the cylinder and insert or remove shells. Additionally, the cylinder can be spun, adding to the realism. The ejection rod is functional, although unnecessary, and the gun can be manually decocked without firing, which is a unique feature considering its spring action mechanism. It's easy to forget that this is a spring-powered gun once you start playing with it. The hammer operates smoothly, resembling the operation of gas and CO2 revolvers.
Unlike most airsoft revolvers, this model offers an adjustable hop-up feature, which can be adjusted using the included tool. This is particularly useful as it improves range, considering the gun's low FPS and its intended use with 0.12 gram BBs, keeping in mind that it was designed for children aged 10 and above.
